About

From protecting families to backing the professionals.

What began as a practice helping families plan their estates became the place the practitioners themselves turn to — for software, standards, fulfilment and someone who picks up the phone.

01 / How it started

The industry frustrated me, so I built what I wished existed.

Alex Stansbury, founder of Project Will

I started in estate planning in 2009, working for a traditional firm. The work was rewarding — helping families protect what mattered most — but the way it was done frustrated me. Everything was paper-based. Processes that should have taken minutes took days. Software was clunky or absent altogether, and most firms were too settled to see how much better it could be.

So I went out on my own, built the systems I wanted, and helped families directly. Word got around, and other estate planners started asking how I was working differently.

That is when it became obvious that the bigger impact was not helping families one at a time — it was helping the professionals who serve thousands of them. That is what Project Will became.

03 / What we believe

Four things we will not move on.

  • 01Your success is our success. We only do well when you do. Everything we build exists to help you serve more clients and keep more of your evenings.
  • 02Technology should simplify. Too much legal tech is over-engineered. We build tools that make sense on the first afternoon, not the third month.
  • 03Honesty builds trust. If we are not the right fit we will say so. If something better exists we will point at it. A long relationship beats a quick sale.
  • 04This work matters. Estate planning is not glamorous, but every practitioner we support keeps more families out of the mess that started all this.
